The countdown to summer has begun!
I’m back after a great “spring” break trip to Gatlinburg, Tennessee. I say spring, but there was absolutely nothing springlike about the weather. We had a great time but were incredibly thankful for all the indoor options Gatlinburg offered.
Rather than wait around for spring, the kids and I have decided that we’re going to look ahead toward summer with this DIY chalkboard summer countdown!
I’m still working on the playroom, and I thought this countdown would be a great addition to our chalkboard wall. We can change it with the seasons – it can also be a vacation countdown or a Christmas countdown.
I used a chalk pen for the more “permanent” areas: the “countdown to” banner, frame and word “days” I used regular chalk for the word “summer” and my little sun icons. This way, I can change the countdown for the next fun thing for us to look forward to.
To see how easy it it to transfer lettering, check out my tutorial on Chalkboard art.

Only 63 more days until our summer break. It has to be warmer by then, right?!
