Christmas Home Tour

This year, we had the honor of participating in a Christmas Home Tour benefiting our local art museum.

Knowing I was planning to be a part of this tour since this past summer, I slowly began buying holiday decor to completely deck our halls.

All of our trees and greenery are faux which allows us to put up the decor earlier without fear of everything dying before Christmas.

I did find these navy velvet Chesterfield sofas online, and they look right at home in their new space.

When decorating our trees, I always try to coordinate the room colors and/or add accent colors that complement the spaces.

I added greenery everywhere using command hooks, but I struggled to get the hooks to stick. I ended up using small finish nails to hang the greenery.

I added velvet ribbon and brass bells to most of the greenery.

I recently wallpapered our dining room ceiling, and it added so much warmth to the space.

I added a tree to our dining room for the first time this year, decorated it with $1 Nutcrackers I found at the dollar store, and added ribbon to the little guys.

I also added a Christmas tree to my office and added blue and complimentary pink ornaments and ribbons.

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!

I found this beautiful floor mirror at Hobby Lobby. Wait for their 50% off sale on mirrors, and it is a great deal!

Today I’m sharing a holiday home tour in hopes of inspiring you with some Christmas Decor Ideas.

Once Halloween is over, I begin pulling down all the holiday decor from the attic. If it is our year to host Thanksgiving, I leave the dining room fall but deck the halls everywhere else.

Christmas Decor Ideas

I bought this outdoor garland after Christmas several years ago. It was a fantastic price, lights up, and I hang in using rip ties.

The urns, lanterns, wreaths, and door garland are all from Balsam Hill. Their product is more pricey, but it lasts for years and is worth the investment.

I kept our dining room decor simple this year. I hung a couple of plain pine wreaths using black velvet ribbon and added a garland across the back of the buffet (which lights up).

I love my flameless battery taper candles and found the candle log centerpiece at Tuesday Morning.

For my office, I added a large Christmas tree to the front window. I bought some silk ribbon and added bows, and bulbs in gold, white, and various shades of blue. The larger pink bows are ornaments I found at Hobby Lobby.

I love having two trees in our living room. They aren’t exactly the size, so one of the trees sits on paint cans but you’d never know thanks to the tree collar (which is from Big Lots).

I added a green garland across the mantle from afloral and the stockings are from Kirkland’s.

I will share how I decorated the trees in our living room very soon.

In the kitchen nook, I added three wreaths I found at Joann’s and hung them from a thick, silky burgundy ribbon.

I love hanging my Lindsay Letters art every year, and you can find the Lamp Post and the Glory to God on her site.

Unique Christmas Decor

Today I’m sharing some simple but unique Christmas decor inspiration. I’m excited to be a part of the annual Holiday Home Tour organized by 11 Magnolia Lane and Evolution of Style.

At the end of this post, you’ll find 29 other bloggers sharing this holiday decor inspiration! If you’re stopping by from 11 Magnolia Lane, hello!

This post contains some affiliate links for your convenience. Click here to read my full disclosure policy.

I decided to keep our Christmas decor simple this year and I added holiday artwork, faux greenery to the mantel, two trees, and a sweater-inspired rug.

If you want to learn more about my colorful Christmas trees you can go here. They’re not the traditional Christmas colors, but I love the lemons and the sophisticated fun they bring to the room.

Closer to Christmas, I will add these cute polka dot stockings. I found them at Hobby Lobby a few years ago.

You can find this gorgeous hand-lettered art here, and it comes in a large variety of sizes, colors, and framing options. Use code SINCERELY for 15% off!

I love the contrast between our light kitchen and the moodiness of the living room.

I’ve decided less is more this holiday season and am keeping our home festive but simple.

Merry Christmas from my family and don’t forget to visit This is Our Bliss.

Family Room Holiday Decor

Family Room Holiday Decor

I found all our family room holiday decor at Joss and Main.

Family Room Holiday Decor:

This family room is where we spend all of our time as a family, and we didn’t have a tree up here because I wanted two trees in our formal living room this year. I thought it would be fine, but Lena was so upset. This is the tree that we decorate with all the kids handmade ornaments. Luckily Joss and Main came to the rescue!

I have the 7.5′ Pre-lit Slim Fraser Green Fir, and the price was fantastic for the quality of the tree. It’s full, pre-lit, and looks perfect in our space!

Lena and I spent the evening watching a Christmas movie and hanging all her favorite handmade ornaments from over the years.

The tree is full of memories, and I look forward to setting up this tree every year.

I love the simple pinecone and berry wreath in our window. It doubles and indoor and outdoor decor. I added a simple navy bow to hang it from.

Keeping with the navy bow theme (the large tree also has them), I added a cute tabletop tree to the space and added a bow to the top of it.

Our family room is now festive and ready for the holidays, and we couldn’t love the space more!

Christmas Decor

We spend so much time in our family room, so I decided to make it really festive this year. I rounded up my favorite Christmas decor from Joss and Main, and I’m using many of these items in our space:

Stay tuned for our festive family room which will be coming to the blog very soon!

Holiday Bedroom Decor Ideas

Holiday Bedroom Decor

I teamed up with several bloggers (including my sweet friend Amie of Meme Hill who organized this blog hop), and we are all sharing holiday bedroom decor ideas in partnership with Crane & Canopy.

In the past, I have decorated my kids rooms, but I have never decorated the master bedroom – which was fun!

I added two small flocked trees to the nightstand and a simple garland to the top of the headboard. I also added a few plaid pillows and some artwork of a wintry scene.

I upgraded our bedding with Crane & Canopy’s The Page Blue duvet set. I love that it is two-sided – one with a pattern and the other plain white. I have the option of using either side, but I opted to keep the pattern subtle with just the foldover pattern visible. It has a hidden zipper (which is so much easier than the buttons), and there are ties to keep the duvet in place. It is also very soft and feel so luxurious.

Crane & Canopy also has the most comfortable pajamas. I have on the Layla pajamas, and they are so soft!

Unique Christmas Decor Ideas

I realized I haven’t shared a holiday home tour this year and want to share our home in hopes of inspiring you with some unique Christmas decor ideas as you deck your halls.

unique Christmas Decor Ideas

In our living room, I kept it fairly simple but added lots of color to our Christmas tree (see more details on the tree here).

This post contains some affiliate links for your convenience. Click here to read my full disclosure policy.

I switched out my floral artwork for this beautiful wintry scene – which will last well beyond the holidays!

I kept the mantel simple with garland and stockings I found at our local Meijer store.

The basket was thrifted, and I filled it with old glass ornaments.

I added some simple touches to our kitchen as well. My favorite thing to do is to fill glass containers with bulbs. I found a box of bulk gold ornaments at Big Lots.

I love collecting miniature faux pine trees. They are perfect for adding holiday touches throughout your home.

Near our stove, I added another faux pine tree and a glass globe of ornaments and garland over the doorway.

My goal is to make the house festive without feeling too cluttered.

I recently shared our dining room. This space works well from fall into the holidays, and you can find the tutorial for the fruit centerpiece HERE.

I also decorated our master bedroom for the holidays, and you can read all about that tomorrow!

Our library is also decorated, and I love putting a lit Christmas tree in the front of the house so it is visible from the street.

I talk about the blue and gold Christmas tree here and give tips for decorating trees.

The Merry Christmas sign is digital artwork I purchased and printed at Walgreens. I recently discovered that Walgreens can print poster-sized images!

I needed a rug to soften the space, so I stole this one from our upstairs home office.

How are you decking the halls this year?

Easy Holiday Decor

I love decorating for Christmas, and I also love keeping things manageable.  Today I’m sharing some easy holiday decor ideas.

As much as I adore the look of live trees and greenery, I also don’t love the maintenance (I never remember to mist them) and one of my sons deals with allergies.  So, we have artificial trees and greenery (minus the gorgeous live wreath hanging above my fireplace).

I try to find trees and greenery that looks realistic, and I save money in the long run. My holiday decor mainly consists of Christmas trees, greenery and wreaths.

I don’t love a lot of clutter, so I keep things as simple as possible.

I’m always on the hunt for faux mini Christmas trees, and I love to set them everywhere.  If anyone has a good source for them, please let me know!

I added this colorful Christmas tree to our kitchen, and I love how happy it is.

I still have our golden neutral Christmas tree in our family room, and I love the hanging the santa photo ornaments every year.

I still have one more tree that I was hoping to show you today. It’s going in our library, but it still hasn’t arrived.  I’ll be showing you that tree in the next week or two.

I love how just the simple greenery touches make the space instantly festive.

I used a lot of candles during the holiday season, and I love the sparkle they provide.

I haven’t had a star on top of our tree for years, but my 7-year-old begged for one, and I do love the charm it brings.

In our dining room, I added more greenery (and candles).  The room is instantly ready for the holiday thanks to three wreaths and matching table greenery.

Want more design inspiration for the holidays?  My friends are all sharing how they deck the halls.

Front Door Makeover with Balsam Hill

Front Door Makeover with Balsam Hill

Front Door Makeover with Balsam Hill

I teamed up with Balsam Hill once again, but this time it is for Christmas (last time was for my fall front door makeover).

winter-decor-with-balsam-hill-7

I am absolutely in love with my front door entrance.  It is elegant and inviting AND it all looks just as gorgeous at night (which I will show a little later in the post).

winter-decor-with-balsam-hill_-6

The wreath and garland are Balsam Hill’s Bay Laurel with Mixed Berries Foliage.

winter-decor-with-balsam-hill_-4

If you would love some gorgeous holiday decor for your home, Balsam Hill is offering my readers a coupon code good through the end of January. The Single Ball Boxwood Topiaries from my fall front porch were reused, and they will definitely stay outside the front door year-round as they work well with each season.

winter-decor-with-balsam-hill-6

My topiaries, garland, and wreath are lit and make a beautiful statement once the sun goes down (which is way too early here in Indiana).

winter-decor-with-balsam-hill-4

I also added a couple of Balsam Hill’s Candela Crossbar Lanterns.

winter-decor-with-balsam-hill-2

I put the Miracle Flame Outdoor Battery-Operated Candle in each lantern, and the glow is perfect.

Right before I was getting ready to take photos of my front door, I saw a post by The Painted Hive.  Kristine updated an outdated door by painting over glass panels. I need to preface this by saying that from the day we moved into our home three years ago, I have never loved our door.  It is not an antique (the previous owner added it soon before we bought the house).  I wanted a solid door – the fancy glass is not my style.  I always tell people home decor is like clothes.  We all like different styles of dress, and well all prefer different styles of decor in (and outside in my case) our homes.

winter-decor-with-balsam-hill-5

You can see the fancy glass here in my fall decorated front door…

fall-makeover-with-balsam-hill-after

I had to do a little persuading, but Steve agreed to let me cover the glass (even though he thought I was crazy).  I promised I would make it removable in case it turned out to be a disaster. I began by using wrapping paper to make a pattern of the glass.

holiday-front-door-decor-with-balsam-hill

holiday-front-door-decor-with-balsam-hill-2 Once the pattern was made, I traced it onto some thin plywood I had leftover from an earlier project.

holiday-front-door-decor-with-balsam-hill-3

I cut two pieces out for the front and inside of the door and used caulk to hold the board in place (remember I promised Steve I’d make it removable).

holiday-front-door-decor-with-balsam-hill-6

I did have to use a couple of nails to hold the board in place while the caulk dried.

holiday-front-door-decor-with-balsam-hill-5

I picked THE COLDEST days for this project, and I tried to keep the cold air out.

holiday-front-door-decor-with-balsam-hill-4

After an afternoon, the caulk was dry and the door was freshly painted and my glass was gone (or hidden).

Christmas Tree Decor

This is a sponsored post written by me on behalf of At Home for IZEA. All opinions are 100% mine.

At Home Christmas Tree

We have always been real tree people, but this past month I have had the honor of working with At Home Christmas Decor on several posts.  (To see my dining room Christmas makeover click HERE and to see my fireplace Christmas makeover click HERE.) During both of those shopping trips, I couldn’t help but notice the Christmas Trees.  At Home has a separate section devoted entirely to artificial trees – 101 varieties. I was quickly won over when I started thinking about how these trees could be used year after year, required no watering, wouldn’t make a mess, and I wouldn’t have to stand in the freezing cold to select a Tree for Me.  I was all in – especially with At Home’s everyday low prices.!

At Home Christmas Tree

At Home has 15 different themes that you can use on their own or group to make your perfect look: Seas & Greetings, Holiday Hoedown, Lavish and Luxe, Peppermint Jazz, Berry Platinum, Forest Fairy Tales, Crystal Chateau, Cherished Memories, Heaven and Earth, Midnight Plume, Regal Renaissance, Snowcapped Scene, Handcrafted from Around the World, Dem Darlings, and Handcrafted.   I used several different themes to get the perfect look:

    • Tree (7.5 foot pre-lit Laurent spruce tree)
    • Shatter Proof Ornaments
    • Burlap Tree Skirt
    • Burlap Ribbon
    • Scentsicles scented ornaments (because I LOVE the fresh tree scent!

Shatter Proof Ornaments

Shatterproof ornaments are a must for us.  I have kids and I have wood floors.  Not a great combination of glass ornaments.

At Home Christmas Decor.

At Home has aisles of ornaments.

I loved these geometric-shaped gold ornaments.  They added just a little something special to my tree.

And if their Christmas collection could get any more amazing, At Home has 15 different decorative Christmas themes.  My personal favorites include Crystal Chateau:

And Lavish & Luxe:

Lavish & Luxe

I combined Crystal Chateau and Lavish & Luxe to create the perfect look for my dining room.  It has some natural elements with a touch of vintage and glam. On the table, I put feathers in the bowls and added the candles.  Pine garland, sparkling tree branches, and the embellished accents surround the three candles.

The mantle garland went on the buffet along with the embellished pieces and the ornaments.  I hung the wreaths with the burlap ribbon.
