Get The Look: Kitchen Decor

I’m kicking off the “Get the Look” series, and today is all about kitchen decor ideas based on our DIY kitchen remodel.

I rounded up some of the most asked about pieces in our kitchen, and they are all linked and listed below:

I am asked about the color of our cabinets all the time, and they came finished in this color. They are RTA (ready-to-assemble) cabinets that we put together and hung (you can read more about that process HERE).

As you can see from the cabinet supplier’s image above, I was anticipating a true gray, but there are all sorts of different factors that can make color look different – it could be lighting or the colors I have around it. I had the gray color-matched, and you can find that formula HERE.

For the cabinet hardware, I selected hardware that had modern lines, and I chose a Golden Nickel color.

The color helps blend the gold accents (faucets, frames, and canisters) and the stainless steel appliances. You can read more on my cabinet hardware HERE.

The silhouettes are an easy DIY project that will cost you almost next to nothing.

See the tutorial for making your own custom silhouettes HERE.

I forgot to add my canister set to the kitchen image item roundup. However, I’m often asked about the canister set. It is one of the easiest DIYs on my blog.

I’ve had them for years, and you can see more details on this project HERE.

Let me know if there’s a room in my home you want added to this new series, and I will do my best to make it happen!

Dream Kitchen Ideas

Dream Kitchen Ideas

I’ve partnered with Drees Homes to explore the best of modern-day must-haves when it comes to kitchen design, and I’m excited to share my dream kitchen ideas.

Drees Homes has been family-owned and operated for 90 years and currently builds in 10 metros across the country – including Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky, Cleveland, Jacksonville, Nashville, Raleigh, Washington D.C., Austin, Houston, Dallas, and right here in Indianapolis.

I was recently invited to explore the gorgeous Crestwood model at Albany Place in Carmel, Indiana and had the honor of decorating the kitchen. After spending time in the amazing space, I fell in love with the conveniences provided in new homes that make everyday life (as well as special occasion entertaining) easier and more enjoyable.

Dream Kitchen Ideas:

Enormous serving island

An enormous serving island is perfect for meal prep, a buffet setup and even homework time.

A double-oven helps to ensure on-time meal readiness, and it is a huge plus for baking in bulk and prepping for large holiday gatherings.

Working pantry

A working pantry provides extra storage as well as out-of-the-way surface space for meal and party prep.

Walk-in pantry

A walk-in pantry provides an abundance of built-in shelves for storing staples behind closed doors.

Double-stacked cabinetry

Double-stacked cabinetry is not only aesthetically pleasing, but it provides hardworking storage spaces.

Bright and airy open-concept design

A bright and airy open-concept design freely flows into the home’s other gathering spaces and is perfect for everyday family living and especially helpful for hosting.

This fall, Drees is offering special kitchen incentives. Here in Indianapolis, when you contract to build a new home between August 30 and October 31, you’ll get up to $15,000 in designer kitchen upgrades (amounts vary by city). If you have been thinking about building a new home, it’s a great time to make a move!

I had so much fun pretending this Drees Homes kitchen was mine, and I didn’t want to leave that enormous island behind. What are your favorite dream kitchen ideas?

All of the decor pieces in the kitchen were courtesy of Crate & Barrel, and I will be sharing the details soon in an upcoming post. The gorgeous photography was done by the talented Melody of Carpenter Photo.

This is a sponsored post written by me on behalf of Drees Homes. All opinions are 100% mine.

Kitchen Remodel Ideas

We recently remodeled our master bathroom, and I am so thankful for a working beautiful bathroom every time I walk into that space (click HERE for all the details on that remodel). However, now I’m dreaming about our kitchen, and today I’m sharing kitchen remodel ideas.

Kitchen Remodel Dreaming

We bought our home knowing there was a pretty significant leak under the shower.  However, life happened, and it was not until three years later that we actually remodeled the bathroom and fixed the leak.

Our kitchen is next on our wish list, but it will be a while before that remodel happens.

We made several cosmetic changes (see the details HERE), but it eventually will require a complete remodel.  The current design does not function well for us.  It is a tight squeeze to stand at the sink with the dishwasher open.  Our fridge is teeny tiny, but we would have to remove the cabinets (which includes a built-in oven) to get a larger fridge.

Since it took us three years to fix a leak, I figure I have plenty of dreaming time for the kitchen.

I am currently on a blue and gold kick, and I love the look of open cabinets. However, I’m not sure I’m up for the dust.  I’m loving subway tile with dark grout and gold hardware with gray cabinets.

I want my kitchen to be elegant and welcoming.  Maybe a beautiful kitchen will suddenly make me love cooking?  A girl can dream!

I’d love to know – what does your dream kitchen look like?
