Living Room Decor

I am often asked about items in our living room, so today I am sharing the sources for our living room decor.

Colorful Rug

I have had this rug for years, and I still love it! The navy grounds all the fun colors, so it is colorful without being too overwhelming in a space.

Large Bust Planter

This large bust planter is such a great conversation starter and is larger than most of the planter busts you will find.

Colorful Floral Art

This floral art is available here on my website. We have several different options, and this is the Lena – horizontal.

Plug-In Wall Lamp Set

This plug-in wall lamp set is my absolute favorite, and I have several sets hanging throughout our home. It is an inexpensive and easy way to add lighting to any room and doesn’t require an electrician. I like to hide the cords with paintable cord covers.

Velvet Pillow Covers

These velvet pillow covers are inexpensive, beautiful, and come in a huge selection of colors. They look great with any decor style.

Tufted Velvet Ottoman

This tufted velvet ottoman is one of my all-time favorites. It is such a pretty piece and comes in so many different colors. It works well as a coffee table and/or an ottoman.

Brass Candlesticks

I love the elegant, modern look of these brass candlesticks. They are timeless and work well through all the seasons.

The paint color is Night View by Valspar, and I have a tutorial for the paneled walls HERE.

Living Room Decor

Our living room is one of my favorite spaces in our home. It’s elegant AND liveable. I am often asked about the sources, so I decided to create a post sourcing all the living room decor.

Unfortunately I couldn’t find an exact match for everything, but I did find VERY similar pieces. I hope you can use these pieces to create your own pretty space.

Our living room is painted in Valspar’s Night View. It’s a deep navy that is often mistaken for black online. However, in person it looks more navy – it is very deep in color, but it is definitely not black.

These gold wall lamps are plug-ins and come in pairs. You can purchase them here. If you’re wondering how I hid the cords, I talk all about that in this post.

These tapered candles are very realistic and come with a remote control. I love having the control to set the candles on timers and not have to worry. You can purchase them here.

This floral art is called the “Lena” after my daughter. It’s even more stunning in person, and you can purchase your own (framed or unframed) here on my site.

These velvet club chairs come as a pair for a great price. There are several color options, and I love them because they don’t take up much space. You can purchase them here.

I love this head planter because it is such a fun and unique way to showcase your indoor greenery. You can purchase your own here for a great price.

Unfortunately, the exact ottoman I have is no longer available, but this brand is similar in look and offers several different colors. You can purchase a velvet ottoman here.

This rug is BY FAR the most asked about decor item. I love how colorful it is while still being elegant, AND it has a fantastic price tag. You can purchase your own rug here.

This round mirror is a staple for any room and any decor style. It helps bounce light around and makes a pretty statement. You can purchase your own round mirror here.

I use these velvet pillow covers all over our home. They come in so many colors, and they are incredibly affordable. Purchase velvet pillow covers here.

My exact sofas are no longer available, but I did find a close option with a great price. You can purchase a similar mid-century sofa here.

I hope this roundup was helpful for you. Please tag me or email me if you end up creating a space that was inspired by mine.

Go create something!

Get the Look: Living Room Decor

I started this “get the look” series earlier this year, and this week is Get the Look: Living Room Decor. It is a fun, moody, elegant look, and I am sharing how to get the same look in your home.

Get the Look: Living Room Design

I have also shared our kitchen, and you can get that look HERE!

Here are the main elements used in the space:

Rug

This rug made my living room, and it can make your space too. It a fun twist on color and tradition and one of my most asked about items in our home.

Chair

This velvet tufted chair is pretty and great for conversation. It doesn’t take up a lot of space, so it is perfect in front of a fireplace.

Sofa

This tufted mid-century sofa is a great way to add a little modern touch to your space.

Artwork

This moody floral artwork is photograph, and it is by far one of my favorite pieces in our home.

Lighting

I use these gold wall lamps all over our home. They are inexpensive, easy to install and add more light to any space. Read more on wall lamps HERE.

Paint Color

The paint color I used in the family room is Valspar’s Night View. It is my favorite deep navy paint color. It is absolutely gorgeous and makes for the most perfect sophisticated moody space.

Pillows

I found an inexpensive source for all different colors of velvet pillow cases. I love adding velvet (go here to see my affordable velvet furniture roundup) to any space.

Living Room Makeover

See all the details on our Living Room Makeover. When I was asked to partner with The RoomPlace on a spring living room makeover, I was thrilled. Living Room Makeover with The RoomPlace Our living room was filled with our old home’s hand-me-downs, and they never fit our current space.  The furniture looked forced in the room, and the sofa cushions were ripped (which meant strategic placement of pillows and throws). While planning the makeover, I knew the room needed a couple of accent chairs and sofas.  I also wanted a bolder color for the space.  I fell in love with a floral shop display I saw when I was in NYC last month – a navy wall with fun pops of color.

Spring Living Room Makeover Design Board

Here is a photo of the living room before the makeover: And here’s the after: We have a “man cave” where we watch most of our tv, so our living room is mainly for entertaining (we purchased leather sofas in the man cave from The RoomPlace several years ago and have been so pleased with their quality). I wanted the newly designed living room to be a space that was elegant yet still comfortable.  Also, we often host larger groups in our home and need plenty of seating.

Roxbury Sofas

Two sofas would allow for maximum seating (verses the sofa and loveseat from before the makeover).  I chose the Roxbury Sofas in Gray.  I love the modern clean lines of the sofas, and I am always a fan of anything tufted. The sofas are a soft gray chenille fabric and are sturdy but comfortable. Keeping with the symmetrical look of the matching sofas, I wanted two chairs to place on either side of the fireplace.

Isabella Accent Chairs

I selected the Isabella Accent Chairs.  The chairs are elegant and inviting and work well with the sofas. The chairs have a more traditional look which contrasts nicely with the modern sofas.  The nailhead trim is a gorgeous addition to the already pretty chairs – especially the oversized nailhead trim on the sides of the chairs. Before the new furniture from The RoomPlace arrived, I added DIY paneled walls to either side of the fireplace and painted the walls in a deep navy (and I will be sharing the full tutorial for the paneling soon). My furniture arrived quickly, and I was incredibly impressed with the delivery and service. Set up was fast and the furniture was placed exactly where I wanted it. I love the new spring makeover for our living room, and in less than a week our family room was transformed into a completely new space. The furniture fits the room and invites guests in. Pops of color were added through pillows and accent pieces. The furniture gives us the maximum seating in our space without being overpowering. Our family is loving the new space and the comfortable furniture. If you are in the Indianapolis (or Chicago) area, you need to check out The RoomPlace for stylish and affordable furniture and home decor accessories.
