Elegant Spring Home Tour

Although it doesn’t feel like spring here in Indiana, I am excited to share my elegant spring home tour in hopes that warmer weather is on its way! For this particular spring tour, I’ve joined 28 other decor bloggers as we share our home tours.  If you’re here from Southern State of Mind, welcome! The tour begins in our dining room.

Elegant Spring Home Tour

I love having a formal dining room, but we don’t use the space everyday.  When we do eat in the dining room, it is usually for a special holiday, event or when we entertain guests.

I combined both faux greenery and live greenery and added some fruit to each place setting – perfect for spring!

See more on our DIY paneled wall here.

The tour continues to our family room where I once again added greenery for the spring season.

I love decorating with live plants and have them scattered throughout our home.  I added an inexpensive floral arrangement made from flowers and greenery I picked up at Trader Joe’s grocery store.

I especially love using eucalyptuses because of its longevity.

Moving on to the kitchen are more touches of greenery and fruit.

I am craving warmth, so I added tropical fruit like pineapple and lemons.

Plants are both on the kitchen island and in the kitchen nook.

I found some potted tulips at the grocery store and transplanted them into a terra cotta pot for instant decor goodness.

Mixing faux florals with live plants is always a good thing.

See all the details on our DIY kitchen remodel here.

Moving into our back entry/mudroom, I’ve added some faux plants to brighten the space.

See more on this recent mudroom makeover here.

Our master bath is the last space on this tour.  I added a pretty bouquet I put together from some Trader Joe’s flowers.

They add color to the neutral space. Go here for all the details on this master bath remodel!

Thanks to my friend Mel of Carpenter Photo for the gorgeous photos!

Spring Home Tour

I am excited to be sharing my spring home tour for the Seasonal Simplicity series (hosted by Krista of The Happy Housie and April of House by Hoff). I love home tours, and I’ve partnered with a group of talented bloggers.

Today there are five of us sharing our homes:

I find myself decluttering every spring, so my spring home tour is very simple with touches of greenery. My tour begins in our dining room. I designed a dining room for the Indianapolis Home Show this year, so several pieces are from the display.  The nameplates and chalk art was created by my crazy talented friend Cara of Word for Word Chalk Art.  The outside chairs are IKEA chairs that were dressed up with handles and gold-dipped legs. I am not normally a fan of fake greenery, but I found this amazing fake greenery at a local shop (Open Gate Design & Decor). My friend hand-lettered this chalkboard for me, and she sells the print on Etsy.  You can find it HERE. I found the long skinny “baskets” at the Ballard Design outlet, and it makes for an effortless but beautiful centerpiece. Our living room recently underwent a complete spring makeover (you can read about it here).  I went from light walls to these bold navy walls. I love the way greenery looks with the dark walls, so I have plants scattered throughout the space. I find my plants everywhere from Home Depot to Lowes to local nurseries. I water them every Monday.  I find that it helps to stick to a routine day of the week (so I don’t forget to water).  There are some plants that may require a little extra water or mist through the week, but I generally find that one day a week works for me. Our home office also underwent some renovations with a giant wall of bookshelves (you can see all the details here). I use everything from fake greenery to live plants to cut greenery in this room. I found these cute little fake greenery pots at HomeGoods for $13.  They were perfect for the top of my bookshelf which doesn’t see much light. I’m still trying to figure out Fiddle Leaf Figs.  I’m keeping this one alive, but she has seen better days. I absolutely love the fresh greenery and flowers Trader Joe’s offers.  You can buy a bunch of this eucalyptus for $3, and it last for weeks. My kitchen is the last stop on this spring home tour, and like the rest of my spring door, it is simple using touches of green. I am a fan of spray paint.  I painted the dollar store vase and transformed it into something more special (and it cost next to nothing). I can’t imagine anything that says spring (and its freshness) more than greenery.  I hope you see that spring decorating doesn’t require a lot of time or money. Thanks so April and Krista of for inviting me to participate in this fun series!
