How to Set a Beautiful Table

Thanksgiving is right around the corner, and there isn’t a more perfect holiday for learning how to set a beautiful table.

This post is a sponsored post by Tuesday Morning. I take pride in reviewing only products that fit my brand and will be beneficial to my readers. And while this post is sponsored, all the opinions are my own.

I am often asked about my favorite source for home décor finds, and Tuesday Morning is high on my list with its great deals (20-60% less than department stores) and high-quality brand-name items. I found everything I needed to create a beautiful table at Tuesday Morning.

The Importance of Setting a Pretty Table:

  • It shows your guests that you think they are important enough to put in extra effort for them.
  • It sets the tone for the meal.
  • It influences the appearance of the food served (which is important for me since cooking is not my gift).

How to Set a Beautiful Table:

Use Linens

Adding linens instantly elevates your table setting. Consider a tablecloth, cloth napkins, and/or a table runner. Linens are an extra touch that won’t go unnoticed by your guests and are a great foundation for setting the perfect table.

Tuesday Morning has a huge selection of quality tablecloths, runners, placemats, and napkins at fantastic prices. I instantly fell in love with these sweet napkins with the mini pom trim.

Layer Textures and Materials

Layer textures to create a beautiful tablescape. I layered linens, woven placemats, and live flowers (mixed in with some faux florals). I also mixed a variety of finishes including glass, porcelain, and brass.

I found the glassware and plates at Tuesday. I love the sophisticated shape of the drinking glasses, and I am always on the hunt for white plates. White dishes are perfect because they can be casual for everyday use or dressed up for a special dinner.

Mix Traditional and Modern

Mix traditional decor with modern pieces for a little tablescape design magic. I love to tone down the ornate traditional looks with simple modern lines.

While shopping at Tuesday Morning, I instantly fell in love with the traditional turkeys and added a more modern wooden bowl with simple lines to decorate the buffet.

The cute pumpkin butter dish and gorgeous candlesticks are also Tuesday morning finds, and I created the entire look for under $100!

Select a Color Palette

For a more uniform look for your table setting, select a color palette. I personally prefer to keep the color palettes around 3-4 colors. A focused color palette will make your table look more harmonious and balanced.

In this tablescape, I looked for pieces that were shades of white/cream and brown, and I added more color (green and rust) in the florals.

I found the white plates at Tuesday Morning, and a set of four was only $12.99! There were several different white plate options, but I selected this setting for the subtle raised border detail.

Accessorize with Candles and Flowers

Keep your centerpieces low so guests can converse easily. Candles set the mood and flowers allow for extra color bursts.

Create floral centerpieces that are repeated down the table. Smaller juice glasses make perfect vases for these smaller arrangements.

I found this white log centerpiece complete with candles at Tuesday Morning. I loved the price and how versatile it is through all the seasons.

By spending a little extra time creating a beautiful table, you can create a memorable dining experience for your guests.

If you’re like me and love to make your home look high-end without spending a fortune, you should check out Tuesday Morning.

Tuesday Morning is one of my favorite stores to find unique and gorgeous home decor for every season and every decor style.

Thanksgiving Centerpiece Ideas

Thanksgiving Centerpiece Ideas

I have a DIY Thanksgiving centerpiece tutorial (which transitions well into the holidays), and I’m also sharing a roundup of centerpiece ideas from a talented group of bloggers/designers. You will definitely find a centerpiece perfect for your next holiday gathering!

But first, watch this quick video which shows how I created my Thanksgiving centerpiece:

It really isn’t a hard process. It is all about adding layers of lush greenery and (faux) fruit. I found everything for my centerpiece at Hobby Lobby.

To begin, I cut a piece of floral foam to size.

I love using moss, and I found moss with an adhesive back. Using scissors, I cut the moss to size.

I covered the ends and had enough to create a border. My goal was to hide the foam, and I knew most of the top would be covered with greenery and fruit.

I began with my faux greenery which I cut down into small pieces and created a border. I used hot glue to adhere the greenery.

Next I added the dried greenery. I filled the center.

After the greenery was done, I began adding my faux fruit – also using a glue gun to adhere it.

I found these pretty glittery berry stems which I cut down to size and added to the centerpiece.

And that was it! I was left with a vibrant centerpiece – perfect for your next holiday gathering.

I love this centerpiece because it feels fresh and will transition well from the fall right to the winter.
