When we first moved into our home, I was really into stripes and a more eclectic look…
Later I decided to tone it down with shiplap and neutrals (go here to see how to install shiplap and here to see how to remove shiplap).
Mudroom Makeover
This poor space probably isn’t sure who she is, but I am loving her more recent (and sophisticated) look:
One of my favorite things in the space is this DIY coat rack.
We love to hosts, and unfortunately our coat closet is full of our families coats. We never had anywhere to hang their coats – until now!
I bought two KARTOTEK hook racks from IKEA and spray painted the hardware gold and the rack a dark gray.
I think the result looks a lot more expensive than $26.
The rack has spots under every hook for labeling. I ended up creating some number and printed them out.

Love the rack! What color/brand of gold spraypaint did you use?
I usually use rust oleum in metallic gold.

It’s been awhile, but I believe I just stained the wood darker and spray painted the hardware gold.
