DIY Laundry Room Makeover

I’m excited to share our DIY Laundry Room Makeover today.

I have been dying to share the after photos with you all!  The past 30 days of my life have been spent DIYing this laundry room makeover (in partnership with BLANCO).  I think it has been 30 days well spent! When we first moved into our home, the cabinets were dark green.  I decorated the space with all my leftovers from the house and tried to make it a pretty space…

Later I realized I spent way too much time in this room to be staring at a space I didn’t love.  However, I didn’t have much of a budget, so I did the best I could and painted the cabinets and added fabric to the walls:

It made a big difference, but it still wasn’t my dream space.  When I received the opportunity to partner with BLANCO on this laundry room makeover, I was able to DIY my dream space!

Our laundry room sink was original to the house, and it was stained with grime and paint from years of use from the previous owners and years of use from my projects.

I had spray painted the faucet gold but it wasn’t looking too great. The sink was replaced with BLANCO LIVEN Sink and the faucet with the BLANCO ARTONA faucet – both in Anthracite.

The counter was replaced with a stock counter from our local hardware store, and the difference is night and day.

The new sink and faucet are absolutely gorgeous. I have never shared the desk area in our laundry room because I ran out of steam the first time I painted the cabinets.  These poor things were hiding in shame (and junk).

I painted the cabinets (you can see the full tutorial here) and added new hardware.  The after is a space I love and am excited to use!

I shared my laundry room design board a few weeks ago, and the entire room was designed around the gorgeous black sink.

The walls were painted a brighter white and the doors were painted a dark gray.

I tiled the back wall and stenciled the floor (tutorial coming soon).

I added a rack for hanging clothes and replaced our pegboard wall with easy DIY open shelves.  It functions so much better for our family since we needed more storage in the room.

I also added hooks for my kids’ sports uniforms.  Once I wash them, they’re ready for their next game.

I replaced our fluorescent lights with this light from Amazon (the popcorn ceilings are a project for another day).

I can’t tell you how much we love our new sink, and it will be seeing even more useful because we are beginning demo on our kitchen this weekend.  Say hello to our temporary kitchen sink!

A special thanks to BLANCO for the partnership on this laundry room.  It wouldn’t have happened without you!

  1. Beautiful laundry room Sara. I liked the old way, but I love the new way so much more. I understand why it is now easier to work at your desk. Would love to be able to help Steve with the kitchen demo, I’m so good at tearing things up. Good luck.

  2. Sara, this is just all gorgeous! You really outdid yourself and everything looks impeccable from the choices of color, lighting, stenciling on the floor, etc. I love it!! I can’t wait to see what you do in the kitchen!! So glad we’re done with the makeover !!

  3. Beautiful space!! It looks amazing and like such a calming space to get all of your cleaning work done. Quick question on the white baskets in the laundry room (sorry if I missed were you mentioned this) but where did you get the baskets from?

  4. Hi, the makeover is beautiful and am looking forward to the tutorial on the stenciled floor. Would you mind sharing where the gold desk chair on castors is from? Thank you, Beth

  5. I love it all. I was wondering what color paint you used on the door to the Laundry room? Thanks!

  6. I’m late to the game with this comment, but I have to tell you that your uniform hooks are genius! I wish I had thought of a system like that when my son was still in school. So many anxious mornings looking for the right football jersey or wrestling singlet. Almost wish our girls were athletes rather than ballerinas just so I could do this 😉

  7. Love your laundry room makeover! Stunning work! Just wondering where you got your gold clothing rod from? Thank you!
